I have a Nokia 3310 which randomly displays 'sim card rejected' and 'insert sim card'. Its not happening when I switch the phone on, just randomly happens. If I take the battery out and put it back in again it will usually be fine again. The sim card doesn't appear to be lose or dirty or damaged.
Any ideas what could be wrong?
Thanks.

This is a common fault..When your sim is in, and you turn the phone on and displays 'sim card not accepted', make sure that your phone hasn't been blacklisted by the service network provider (if so theres no way round it), unless your a engineer ))
Also make sure, that if you buy say, a one2one phone, and you insert a O2 sim, that would also display 'sim card not accepted'...b'coz the phone will only accept a one2one sim...unless it is generic...(accepts any sim card)
It can also be the sim reader itself, have you tried changing one? I can provide you one, if you need one. Maybe that is your solution, esp if once in a while, it comes up 'insert sim'.
cheers.

Thanks for the reply engineer.
It never happens when I switch the phone on, just happens once in a while at random.
How much does a sim reader cost? Is it easy to install?
Thanks

All you will need is a T6 tork screwdriver, if you haven't one, you can get one from Maplin, for about £2-3..
