I currently have an 8310, and have an upgrade coming up soon (well of one of my parents fones :D )

I was looking at the 6100, it looks prety neat and i dont have to pay too much (£60 for it when up grading)

Opinions anyone?

Thats an industrial strength upgrade for sure! For the sake of 60 squids you're getting the works; colour screen, polyphonics, built in speaker, full Java support and when you get ritght down to it a much more professional looking fone.

So you lose the Fm radio...did anyone really use em anyway?

yep i got one of these m8. similar s/w to 7210 but without the bugs (allegedly...dunno coz never owned a 7210 for more than 2 days). not too impressed by the image color quality but everything else is good :)
and much sexier looking fone than the 7210 :D

i agree with them both, the 6100 is a sexy looking phone, the features, are too true, like dusti said who does use the FM radio...
best you get that one...

Ahh thats exactly it - im scared of going for the colour screen, i think it would be a bit tacky! - my friend has the 5100 and i just dont like the screen at all, although i like the torch feature now thats cool!

I'm no 5100 fan personally. Unless you work for National Geographic there's not a lot of call for this 'penknife' Nokia with its waterproof built on torch, termometer, calorie and currency converter.

It's also hideous.:p

Thee 6100 is virtually the same fone tho but without the silly extras plus it's sexier, supports midi tones and has very strong security features.

If you want a colour screen and poly tones, go for a samsung, the screens are far brighter, and the new ones have 65,000 colour screens as opposed to nokias 4000 and they have 40 voice/track poly tones against nokias measly 4!

Well the thing is - i have always used nokias and dont think i could change.


It turns out that i dont have an upgrade untill july, oh well! i suppose there will be more phones out then and the prices will have went down.


do nokia ever release 2nd versions of their fones? like a 6100b - say if there were any bugs?

Yep, Nokia certainy do ROCK!

If there's a bug-fix or newer software available you can flash update your fone. If there's a hardware glitch then Nokia would never admit it so there's never any need to release second editions.

(if your fone's under waranty the dealer's supposed to update it gratis...but you just try and tell Carphone Warehouse that):rolleyes:

Could anyone tell me how many picture messages the nokias hold, the 6100 in particular. On the O2 website they are currently giving away cameras with the fones - I wonder would they chuck one in with my upgrade (eventually.. the date is ticking down) I mean are these phone operators able to be persuaded ;)

hmm ive got a 3510i and i think its reasonably ok.

the colour screen is disspaointing, with the colours quite pixelly and not as good a standard as all the photos make out.

as far as im aware the fone has a set memory, so u can fill ur fone up with as much stuff as the limit allows and holds alot more than 4 polys. i have about 10 additional to the ones i have, plus graphics and games.

If you have money, dont buy it and go for a better fone but if your poor (like me :p) then its the best foen you can get for the price its at.

Fraid not...

It only ships with a coupla games I think. One of which being that all time arcade action classic CHESS :nono:

Although it's easy enough to pump a copy of Snake2 into the 6100. There's no shortage of places to get it. You can even whip it off the club nokia website.

I phoned up today to get my 6100 (49.99) and they were fricken out of stock untill next wednesday... frustrating! They offered me a Nokia 7250 for £79.99 is it worth it?

They're pretty much the same fone but the 7250 looks nicer and has a camera built in instead of all that plugging one in mullarkey.

They're both triband with a choice of 2.5G wireless connections. If you're buying to experiment with HSCSD then it's only supported by Orange at the mo I think...

Plus the 7250 looks much much nicer :p

thanks for your enthusiasm, but to me the 7250 looks outdated and rather large... its a painful wait untill wednesday but id rather wait for the 6100 rather than get a phone for the sake of it...! :(

I ordered my 6100 yesterday and received it this morning - how quick was that! Its a great alround phone and I have yet to find fault!!!!!! Only time will tell
