Why, oh why did I decide to upgrade?? Been running norton system works 2002 fine for a while now, so I had the bright idea of updating, now I have the 2003 version, half of the gifs on this (and some other) sites just show up as red crosses in a white box. I'm at the end of my tether now, I've tried everything! Help!

norton internet security products will also stop you using a wide range of internet services including vipsms, cbfsms, and cbfmobile session tracking - due to the incredibly pathetic way the product handles cookies, which we all know are pretty goddamn harmless. Denying cookies is no way to go about security - it just affects your web browsing - what it SHOULD do is automatically delete them at the end of each session - duh.

is it advertising banners that you're seeing a red X for?

go to Search, select All Files and Folders (thats XP but I'm sure you know how to do a search :P) and look for a file called HOSTS with no extension.

If you find the file, open it in Notepad and delete everything except for everything above:

127.0.0.1 localhost

If your hosts file is already empty (as it should be) then we'll have to try summit else! Just make sure that one line stays intact

Yeah, that file was fine. If I disable norton, then everything works fine. I have all the settings down to a minimum, cookies are allowed, and I have all the site refferal settings allowed. Here's a pic of what I see, the pics that aren't shown change with a refresh of the browser, and if i right click and click 'show picture' then it appears fine.

I'd usually back Norton to the hilt, but I'm not gonna defend system works as I've never seen the need for it, but as I've said before I've used Norton firewall without a single problem or hinderance for as long as I can remember, and been using Norton antivirus since it came out again without any problems, it baffles me to no end how the same product could cause so many people so many problems, I guess thats just the nature of computers. :)

how straaaaaaaaaaange

serves you right for running norton :D

I run norton antivirus and xp's firewall - so that covers me against viruses/trojans and rogue incoming connections without affecting what I want to retrieve from the net.
