Saving GIF images

when i try save a GIF image it saves as Bitmap (*.bmp) so when i save it the GIF doesnt move

anyone know how to fix this problem?

just go to save the picture as normal, but at the "save as" box there should be an option under the filename box to save as gif or bitmap, change it to gif then save it.

What are you using to save it? Is it an animated gif?

yes an amimated gif.

you need to have an animation programme to save it as a GIF other wise it usually saves as a static GIF or BMP.

I found that out while trying to save animations in normal picture editing programmes.

maybe try saving in your animation prog if you dont have one you can usually download them off the net

I dont mean to create gifs i mean just save one from a website..

right click save picture as that is it should automatically give you the option to save as a GIF if not try copy & paste into an animation programe. It has to be one of those so that it can render all the frame. Normal programme only deal with single frame images.

thats what i mean when i right click save picture as they is no gif option there and when i copy and paste it into animation shop it only copys 1 frame:confused:..

might be a different file format or it might be protected.

When I did it it only listed download as .gif

That's weird. Maybe something to do with your file associations...

If you PM your address I could email the animation to you or something.

you don't happen to be using Windows 3.11 by any chance lol, seriously though what version of Windows you running? and I just emailed you the gif in a zip file all you need to do is download the zip file unzip it and voilla :)

righteys I realise this is an old problem but I've just had it myself there, it wasn't exactly the same problem I was just unable to save any sort of pics off the net in any format other than .bmp, but I'm sure the cause is the same so I thought I'd post how I sorted it, right this is very technical so you'll have to bear with me, ok click on tools up the top of the page there and goto "Internet options" in here delete your temporary internet files including all offline content and Bobs that wierd relative you never visit, you should be sorted now.....sorry did I say that was gonna be technical :D
