free php host?

anyone know a free host with php and mysql?


already tryed lycos and coolfreepages.
had problems uploading with lycos

and i cant get the db to work with coolfreepages

Free and no ads of any kind.

If you're developing then go for a subdomain as the error handling is set too high on the .port5 domain. I used to use their 8bit.co.uk domain and it worked well enough.

Theres is a seperate free MySQL host you can link to off site at www.freesql.org but the servers quite flakey.

Ahh. Porland have a rule against forums I think.

I managed to get all the major freeboards up on spaceports without much bother.

I tried Mercury, Invision, phpBB and YaBB.

Settled on Mercury in the end but Invision is the most customisable one with a HUGE store of hacks and mods.

You'll need to request your database seperately/ You also get the option to pay them money to take the ads off.

Yeah their admins are pretty slow. :D But theres a serious amount of servers they have to vet I suppose.

If you've been having trouble using DOS to upload files and directories then you can download a free app called SmartFTP for windows.

It's reliable and intuitive. A little spyware, (cydoor I think) but it's worth it for convenience. You can control anykind of FTP operation with it.

It also still works when you strip out the spyware. :p

figured out why lycos was playing up



it was becase they are under maintinace,would have been nice of them to tell me, might stick with them for now.


although looking into space ports
