*** Sir Paul McCartney approached Glastonbury organisers about headlining the Saturday night at this year's festival but was turned down as Radiohead are confirmed for the slot. "We tried to work it out with Paul," said festival boss Michael Eavis, "but it was Saturday or nothing."
*** So Solid Crew's G-Man has been sentenced to four years in prison, according to reports.
The 24-year-old, real name Jason Phillips, was found guilty of possessing a loaded handgun. He was sentenced at London's Southwark Crown Court.
*** An album by Dave Grohl's side project Probot will be released in autumn, after three years on the shelf. The Foos frontman described the LP, which features a different vocalist on each song, as a metal version of Santana's 'Supernatural'.
*** Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington has spoken of his chest illness and thanked fans for their support during his time in hospital.
Bennington, who checked into hospital on May 30, has been told by doctors that he does not require surgery and should in fact be fully recovered after two to three weeks’ rest.
The vocalist today released a statement that reads as follows:
"First of all I'd like to thank everyone from fans & bands to my friends, and the hospital staff who have been very supportive and understanding of my situation. I finally got out of the hospital over the weekend after 9 days, and the doctor instructed me to rest for the next 2 - 3 weeks.
Right now it seems like it was some bacteria or virus that spread throughout my intestines and body, putting me in intense pain. It also would not let me eat for a week. My doctors and nurses were amazing, and very helpful during my stay.
We are working on when we will be making up the missed European headline dates, and I am really bummed we had to miss the festivals. I plan on playing our warm up show in Las Vegas on June 27th, and ripping everyone's face off this summer on SUMMER SANITARIUM. I also wanted to say I truly appreciate the tens of thousands of get-well emails I got from fans. Our fans really are the best in the world."
*** The Kylie Minogue camp have denied rumours that the star is pregnant with the child of her current boyfriend Olivier Martinez. "I have spoken to Kylie," said her PR agent, "and she told me to tell you she's definitely not pregnant." Reports suggest that Martinez spoke of the imminent 'patter of tiny feet' at a dinner party.
*** Blink 182 have named their new album 'Use Your Erection I and II', says the band's drummer Travis Barker. The record, the follow-up to 2001's 'Take Off Your Pants And Jacket', is due for release around October/November time.
*** Alien Ant Farm have announced a UK gig to coincide with the release of their new album 'truANT'. The band will play London's Mean Fiddler on August 19, the day after 'truANT' hits the shelves.
*** Metallica have expressed their disapproval of the use of their track ’Enter Sandman’ by US military to coerce information from Iraqi prisoners. "I feel horrible about this," said drummer Lars Ulrich. "No one in Iraq has ever done anything to hurt me.”
*** J-Lo has sacked her long-term manager Bunny Medina and her agent just two weeks after Lopez sacked her publicist. Reports suggest the sackings occurred because J-Lo was unhappy about publicity branding her a diva.
*** Rumours of an imminent One True Voice split are rife following the revelation by the group's Anton Gordon that bandmate Daniel Pearce has decided to leave.
Speaking during a radio interview earlier this week, Anton said the group are not about to split but Daniel has had enough. "I don't think Daniel's happy," he said. "I think he's leaving the band maybe, but we're not splitting up."
Like anyone is bothered
