*** Sir Paul McCartney approached Glastonbury organisers about headlining the Saturday night at this year's festival but was turned down as Radiohead are confirmed for the slot. "We tried to work it out with Paul," said festival boss Michael Eavis, "but it was Saturday or nothing."

*** Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington has spoken of his chest illness and thanked fans for their support during his time in hospital.

Bennington, who checked into hospital on May 30, has been told by doctors that he does not require surgery and should in fact be fully recovered after two to three weeks’ rest.

The vocalist today released a statement that reads as follows:

"First of all I'd like to thank everyone from fans & bands to my friends, and the hospital staff who have been very supportive and understanding of my situation. I finally got out of the hospital over the weekend after 9 days, and the doctor instructed me to rest for the next 2 - 3 weeks.

Right now it seems like it was some bacteria or virus that spread throughout my intestines and body, putting me in intense pain. It also would not let me eat for a week. My doctors and nurses were amazing, and very helpful during my stay.

We are working on when we will be making up the missed European headline dates, and I am really bummed we had to miss the festivals. I plan on playing our warm up show in Las Vegas on June 27th, and ripping everyone's face off this summer on SUMMER SANITARIUM. I also wanted to say I truly appreciate the tens of thousands of get-well emails I got from fans. Our fans really are the best in the world."

*** Metallica have expressed their disapproval of the use of their track ’Enter Sandman’ by US military to coerce information from Iraqi prisoners. "I feel horrible about this," said drummer Lars Ulrich. "No one in Iraq has ever done anything to hurt me.”

*** J-Lo has sacked her long-term manager Bunny Medina and her agent just two weeks after Lopez sacked her publicist. Reports suggest the sackings occurred because J-Lo was unhappy about publicity branding her a diva.

*** Rumours of an imminent One True Voice split are rife following the revelation by the group's Anton Gordon that bandmate Daniel Pearce has decided to leave.

Speaking during a radio interview earlier this week, Anton said the group are not about to split but Daniel has had enough. "I don't think Daniel's happy," he said. "I think he's leaving the band maybe, but we're not splitting up."
Like anyone is bothered

Creed announce split

Grammy-winning rock group Creed have announced they have split, with three members already forming another band, minus singer Scott Stapp. The group, known for their Christian-inspired songs, called it a day after eight years. Drummer Scott Phillips said that while no-one was to blame for the split "it just stopped being fun". Creed's three albums, including Human Clay, sold a combined 24 million copies in the US. The band won rock artist of the year at the Billboard Music Awards in 1998, 1999 and 2000. Phillips, guitarist Mark Tremonti and former Creed bassist Brian Marshall have already formed a band called Alter Bridge, with an album due out in August. "We don't want to make it seem like it's just Creed with a different singer," said Phillips. Although often described as a Christian band, Creed themselves always maintained they were not because they did not want to push their own religious beliefs on others. Tremonti recently explained that his long friendship with Stapp had soured in recent years, which led to tensions in the band. Creed had taken a year off from recording and touring, and Phillips said that when the time came to reconvene "the vibe just wasn't the same". In 2003, four fans filed a lawsuit against the group following a Chicago concert, claiming singer Stapp was "intoxicated". The previous year the band had to scrap a tour when Stapp was injured in a car crash. Stapp has already recorded a solo track which will be featured on an album of music inspired by the movie The Passion of the Christ.

Rock fans sue US band Creed

Four fans are suing US rock band Creed for $2m (£1.3m) after lead singer Scott Stapp was allegedly too intoxicated to sing at a concert near Chicago last year. The fans claim that Stapp was incapable of singing the lyrics to any of the songs at the gig on 29 December at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois. The band, who are known for their Christian lyrics, apologised to concert-goers for any disappointment caused in a message posted on their website. They also called the performance "the most unique of Creed shows" and told fans: "It's only rock and roll." But the four claimants allege Stapp left the stage on several occasions during songs for long periods of time, rolled around on the floor of the stage in apparent pain or distress and appeared to pass out during the peformance. They are hoping to recoup the $227 (£143) they paid for tickets and parking fees. The lawsuit seeks over $2m in total from the band, promoters Jeff Hanson Management and ticket-sellers Ticketmaster on behalf of the 15,000 fans who attended the concert. The Florida-based band have had huge success in the US since they formed in the mid-90s. Their debut album My Own Prison has sold more than six million copies. Their second and third albums, Human Clay and Weathered, both debuted at number one in the US Billboard chart. The band won rock artist of the year at the Billboard Music Awards in 1998, 1999 and 2000. But they have sought to distance themselves from their Christian band tag. On the band's website, Stapp says many people label them as a religious band because of their spiritual lyrics but he denies they are a Christian band. "A Christian band has an agenda to lead others to believe in their specific religious beliefs. We have no agenda", says the lead singer. Creed cancelled part of their US tour earlier last year after Stapp was involved in a car crash.

Has anyone heard of them? Charlie Simpson out of Busted, (the one with the big eyebrows) is taking 3 months off to work with them. A photo of the band shows Charlie smoking. They are meant to be good, totally different to Busted.
