ok has the situation ever happended to you where you go to download a file and you get the message you did not come from page x therefore u cannot download the file?

even when you did come from page x

well if you have norton internet security one of the reasons is its pricvacy features kill the Http referer.

heres how to stop it from killing the refferer without disableing the whole of nis (that would be a hackers dream)

NOTE THESE intrstuctions are for the 2003 version but may work with others

1) double click the NIS icon in the systray (byt he clock)
2) select privacy control
3) select configure
4) select custom level
5) untick the box that says enable browser privacy
6) click ok
7) click ok
8) click close (the x in the corner)

DONE

to re activate this feature just follow the steps again but tick the box instead of unticking it

Excellent post.

NIS users need to do this in order to use the following cardboardfish-run services:

CBFMobile.com Session Status
CBFSMS.com
vip.cbfsms.com

for your privacy i would reccomend reactivating the brower privacy feature once you have finished on whatever site u needed to reveal the http referer to.

becasue there are nasty sites out there that take advantage of information browsers send out.
