No, sorry to have to break the news but, this music does acctually suck, I'm very sorry to be the one to inform you, synthamathingys suck, all this new 'music' sucks, I'm not saying we should all go listen to 70s and 80s music... Well, maybe some of it.

Why do people have to die?

I propose putting a ban on 10 year old kids becoming popstars, unless they have a particular talent, not just rich prents and a smart agent.

NOTE: I'm not saying any of the previous mentioned musicians/bands are 10 year old kids, that's my view on music, it's the music forum and I can't be bothered to start a new thread. XP

As for this, of course it is. None of those people are little kids, also they're way too addictive for them not to be ok to like.

Okay so some people don't like "SuperStar" and "The Way".....But some DO! We all have different tastes so why cause a fuss over who likes what and who doesn't? I happen to like those songs. I like ALL kinds of Music (but not that *chitty* Linkin Park and Korn crap) Both Tunes mentioned at the beginning of this thread make very good dance tunes. (*my* opinion)

Now another two songs to talk about:

"ck & supreme dream team - Dreamer"
(You may not recognise the name but it basically just goes like "
Dreamer, Nothin' but a Dreamer, But can you put your hands on your head? Oh No!")

The Outhere Brothers - Don't Stop (Wiggle Wiggle)
(This one is X rated, and reaalllly good!)

Anyone else heard these two?? Whaddya think of em?

The Mullet of G
27th May 2003, 04:39 PM
ok I'm probably gonna get stick for saying this, but I'm gonna say it anyways, most of the aforementioned tunes are flagrant cheddar, I've been into dance music for over a decade now, and in my opinion the dance music scene just now is the worst I've ever seen it, and I lay the blame at the doorstep of tunes like the ones mentioned before, they are the dance scenes equivalent of the likes of Hearsay and Steps, just mass produced music made with very little effort involved, and its killing the scene as the people who did make good dance music are now fed up of putting loads of effort into creating something that gets less recognition than some track that was made in 5 minutes on a Playstation, and its not just the artists who are fed up, clubbers are fed up with it as well, you only need to look at the amount of previously successfull clubs that are now struggling to keep there heads above water, because the people who were passionate about the scene and went out clubbing week in week out are just not prepared to to pay to listen to what is imo low quality music, and before anyone deals me a beating with the "dissing others tase in music" stick I'm not trying to diss anyones music tastes as thats what music is all about diversity and most of all listening to the music you like regardless of others opinions, I'm merely just telling you what anyone else who has been passionate about dance music for years already knows. :)

Pink's new song "Feel Good Times" is kinda dancey (I think after reading G's statement) I cant say Iv been into much dance/club music, occasionally the odd track comes out that I like but mainly its just not my bag...However I do like Pinks new song, does any1 else? Anyone know when her new album is out and if its going to be mainly dance? :)

The Mullet of G

lol Paul Van Dyk is the epithet of all that is cheese in the dance music scene, add to that your Ferry Corsten's, Dave Pearce's and Pete Tong's and you gots yourself a bag of cheesey quavers, if you want to hear innovative dance music try Fabric Live mixed by Jaques Lu Cont or one of Crydamoure's albums, theres a bit more to them than your usual woodpecker destroying a drum acompanied by a cheesey riff style dance tunes. :D

Sorry, but out of my selective hated music (ie everything bar rock/metal ;)) Trance has to be the worst.

Hehehe dont worry.

I have a friend who was what some call a 'Goth' really nice bloke. But he hated trance and loved rock/metal. We became best friends and i went to his 'gigs' and he came to my 'raves'.

We came to the opinion between us that music is energy. It has the power to make you feel good, confident and high without the need for drugs. (i dont subscribe to the drug culture that accompnies trance i dont need to the music gets me high).

Rock and metal and the negitive (not in a bad way) end of the spectrum and trance is the positive. There is little difference between the two, rock and metal get you that feeling from negitive energy and trance gets you it through positive energy.

Its is hard to explain to those who have never felt it. We have both felt it at each type of event. Though i remain and always will a follower of the positive energy. Though i have felt the power in rock and metal.

hmmm I see what your trying to say or at least I did in the first few lines before you started waffling nonsense, maybe if you had a better understanding of music and human nature you'd realise that what is positive to you may be negative to others, and thus your whole theory falls down like a house of cards, you can't categorise music into positives and negatives due to everyone having different musical preferences, I'm not being funny but all this positive energy nonsense just reeks of something you'd find written on the sleeve of some cheesey trance anthems album. ;)

"I'm not being funny but all this positive energy nonsense just reeks of something you'd find written on the sleeve of some cheesey trance anthems album"

That is why you dont understand. You seem very set in your ways and your prejudices of something you dont understand or fit into (willingly or otherwise) seems to have blinded you. That is not an insult, very few people have open minds and I include myself in that, though I do try. I used to be the same quick to defend my own without any knowledge (rather than bias) of the other. I have since spent many years travelling Eurpoe and the United States club and rock/metal scens (amoung others). Most of the DJ's I interviewed spoke of energy and how they use it to control the growd, and yes I developed my positive/negitive spectrum from interviews with these DJ's or bands. It is their words I use.

I do not usually post things I know nothing about. But then I am not infallible (as you can probably tell by my spelling sometimes ;) ).

lol I'll have you know I listen to just about every style of music you could possibly think of so I have no bias to any particular musical genre only a bias against bad music, and I don't bother interviewing DJ's or people in bands as most of my mates are either DJ's or are in bands I've even had the pleasure of broadcasting one of my own live sets via internet radio, you basically missed the point of my post and as such you made hasty assumtions that were incorrect, I merely stated that what was positive to you may well be negative to others, and that the way you were putting across your positive energy theory was akin to the in sleeve ramblings on most comercial dance album sleeves, surely this isn't to a hard concept to grasp, also this process of DJ's "controling crowds with energy" is also in sleeve jargon, any DJ worth his salt plays to the crowd, that is if he plays a record with a particular flavour and the crowd appreciate it then he will play more of that flavour, similarly if it doesn't go down to well then he'll change it, hence forth the DJ controls people with music, if you want to go calling it all sorts of comercialy cheese terms like energy then so be it, but personally its all a bit glow sticks at 10 paces for my liking. ;)
