which networks work best in what areas and does the make and model of the mobile effect the signal strength of the network?

In my area (south east kent) according to what i get, and my friends say... the best signal would probably come form O2 or orange... with vodafone next and t-mobile/virgin...
as for the phone... i dont think it would make much of a difference unless its its one that has a changable aerial and u stick a crap one in... but a lot of phones has internal ones so its not normally a problem...

I'm also in East Kent: Orange and O2 are good, Vodafone is OK, T-Mobile (etc) is OK. Most people here seem to be on O2.
