View Full Version : The Ring

Whoop de doo folks! The American remake of the Japanese horror movie The Ring is set to hit the UK sometime next month, although I hear that is subject to change...
But! BUT! I managed to get my hands on a Screener DVD yesterday and watched it last night. Now... being an avid fan of both the Japanese Ring and Ring 2, I wasnt getting my hopes up. But to my upmost joy its not a bad reworking of an already amazing story...
Listen in if you will!
Four teenagers all die at the same time on the same day, exactly 7 days after they went on a camping trip. And what was extraordinary about that trip? They watched a video...
Without giving too much away, one of the teenagers aunts works for a newspaper and decides to find out what went down and winds up watching the same cursed video as the kids
From then on the movie is a really rather good journey to fins out what the images on the video mean, and find a way to stop the curse...
With todays market for comedy-big-boobed-horror, this is a breath of fresh (or beautifully stagnant) air with a storyline that will keep you watching right to the end.. AND its even quite frightening in parts which is a bonus!
Check out the official website at ring-themovie.com (http://www.ring-themovie.com/)
One last thing... please try and get a chance to watch the original Japanese version of this movie too... its definately worth it :D

one of those films that has been showing trailers for about the last 10 years. I was starting to wonder if it was the new coca-cola advert or something, but no, I'm sure it will be released as a film one day:D
Looks excellent.

Im with the Whitemaster general on this one
banter is good, but calling someone a jerk off is pitiful banter, like a wannabe yankee, or a sadsack character off neighbours :D
or maybe bart simpson.
and the bandwagon, oh its so easy to join isnt it follow thy leader etc and respect to the guy calling the shots, tounges up rectum passages etc
hey man eat some jerkies and then jerk off, u jerk off
:p
jerk!

lol dear o dear :afro:
ok before someone loses an eye in this bandwagon finger pointing lark let me just say that I'm not jumping on the bandwagon but I don't know what all the fuss is about, sure jerk off was maybe a little harsh but surely you should be adult enough to take it on the chin without a tantrum, I'm not taking sides here but I just think its petty arguing on a chatboard over a little banter, I mean if jerk off's the worst you've been called on a chatboard then your doing well I've been called a lot worse, but I didn't let myself get upset about it, I just rolled with the punches and dealt a bit of banter in return and everything was good and there was no unnecessary animosity. :afro:

THE RING
What a fab film! Huh! Huh!!
Bit slow at the start like.....but soon warmed up.....I have never seen three grown women so frightened by a film so much in my life!!
Story rocked, unknown actors rocked, scenery rocked, jumpy bits rocked.
I would highly recommended this film to anyone, everywhere.....

Ring, Ring 2, Ring 0, Ring Virus... and some others I cant remember...
Oh! Raisen... which is the original Ring 2 but the Japanese remade it...
And I think Ring Virus is the Japanese remake of the original Japanese Ring... but the storyline is closer to the book upon which the movie is based
Something like that anyway

I saw said film today... Strangely I found it depressing and I honestly can't say why... It was, however, a bloody good film, not as scary as some, but great effects and a good (by which I mean "I didn't understand it so it must have been good") storyline, best horror movie I've seen for a while, although, thinking about it... Only horror movie I've seen for a while.

I am yet to find a "scary" film that actually scares me. I think I probably ruined the film for most people around me when I saw it the day it came out as I couldn't resist making fun of every attempt to scare the **** out of the audience...
"I think it has something to do with the horses" *audience gasps* no.. noooooo.... NOT THE HORSES :eww:
