Finaly! Evil Dead III : The Army Of Darkness is released on DVD!

First off... the packaging (http://www.jam.org/LD/dvd/ArmyOfDarkness.jpg) is completely the same as the original VHS release, but hell.. that aint no big deal!

INSIDE the box there are 2 discs. The 1st disc is the Theatrical Release. 2nd Disc is the Original Release with commentary, and a few extras that are common to DVD's

Now... this is the tricky part... pay attention.. oh I've come over all Jennifer Anniston..

The Theatrical release was only ever released in the US. The Original release was the version that was released here in the UK. So if you're from the UK, its the Theatrical Release that has the alternate ending and not the Original release as the box would have you believe!

Good... glad thats sorted...

On to the movie!

Unfortunately I'm kinda gonna have to be VERY biased because I'm a big fan of the Evil Dead trilogy. Basicaly it all started back in Evil Dead 1 with a bunch of campers finding a book - The Necronomicon - in the old cabin they are staying in, they raise some ancient evil, and it kills them all. Evil Dead II was basicaly a remake of Evil Dead 1 except this time, our hero ( or at least the only one we're gonna get in these movies! ) Ash gets sent back to Medievil times whilst banishing the bad guys to hell.

This is where Evil Dead III : Army Of Darkness kicks in! Yes its kinda the same as Evil Deads 1 & 2, with Ash being a goofy coward but still beating the Deadites with all he's got. But its the endearing character of Ash (played by Bruce Campbell) that has always made the Evil Dead movies a hit!

The good thing is that you dont have to have seen the original movies to understand this one. So if you're a fan of Cheesy Horror with some really funny sequences thrown in, you could do a lot worse than check out Army of Darkness AND its predecessors!
