I'd say most Nokia owners know this old stuff...but theres no tips and tricks in here so what d heck...

Lets say that your batterys well into its death rattle and you need to make one last call in order to save the world. Hey...it happens...

Type in #4720# and wait for the fone to restart itself. This puts it into the lowest voice codex mode and uses up to 33% less power.

*3370# Puts you into the best voice mode. Eats up battery like no ones business and hogs the networks bandwidth :D

So theres four settings altogether there.

#3370# - Full codex off
*3370# - Full codex on
#4470# - Half codex off
*4470# - Half codex on

*4720# *4729# so what exactly is the difference between those two...?

A little question - if i put the highest quality on, how does this affect the rest of my phones usability? eg. will it not let me make a call if the quality is not high enough - wheras before it would have previously in the highest quality?

Is call charge affected?

That was a typo...my bad. Fixed now.

This doesn't effect the phones performance in any other way. It just tells the software which kind of compression to use on the encoding/decoding of voice packets.

The lower the compression the better the sound. When its set higher the sound gets crackly and hissy but the transfer is more efficient and less draining on the battery.

No effect on call charge at all.

Oo I did end up having a play - I couldn't tell the diff with the sound quality, maybe I'm just stoopid, but the little restart it does is way funky! :D

:D Somethings just occured to me! I honestly didn't realise...

Was looking for an easy way to memorise those codes and I noticed they spell;

4720 = HRC0 (Half Rate Codex 0)

3370 = EFR0 (Enhanced Full Rate 0)

:rolleyes: Well it's new to me neway...

Ok i think its time i asked someone to explain this...

how does 4720 even slightly = HRC0?

Same with that long number which brings up the hidden info menu, and is supposed to spell warrany or something...

Or am i just being really thick here?

It's like in America where you'd get adverts saying;

"Call rent-a-lig on 0800 100 LIG"

So you dial the number on your keypad that has that letter printed on it.

0800 100 5(L)4(I)4(G)

Do that with thhe letters HRC (for Half Rate Codex) and you get 473. The 0's a zero not a the letter O.

-----------------------------------

The Enhanced full rate mode gives the best sound quality. It's dependant on your network and your location though. Not all cells support it.

Give it a go and if you don't notice a wonder improvement in quality then it just might not work for you...

Not sure if there is one!

There's different codes to bring up info menus like *#0000# and *#92702689# but I don't know of one to bring up a list of all the phones features and settings.

You should be able to find the manual online if you don't have one tho.

Hmm...don't know anything specific for the 3510 :/

If the above codes worked then I'd imagine some of the older ones would work too tho. Try a forum search on 'codes' to give it a go.
