In a post in the Mobile Telephony section over at Digital Spy Forums, i posted in a thread trying to help a guy who is having this problem:

I am on O2 and have a Nokia N70. On Wednesday night, I had 2 texts sent to me from 2 different people. One of these people was on T-Mobile and one was on Virgin Mobile (whose service is provided by T-Mobile). Both of their texts have now come through about 35 times each and they are STILL coming through! The same thing happened when they text me last night.

In the same period, I have had text messages as normal from people on other networks.

Did anyone else get this and how do I stop it?!?!

So in response, to try and help the guy, i posted...

if it's just happening from T-Mobile/Virgin Mobile (which suck anyway), its most likely a problem at their end. i would either talk to O2 but they'll probably tell you to talk to T-Mobile/Virgin Mobile (you could get your mates, family or whoever they are to talk to their respective network and get them to tell the network about the problem)

Then some T-Mobile "fanboy" comes in the thread and posts...

What facts do you base your comments on regarding T-Mobile? (i.e. They suck)

So i respond with...

I knew it wouldn't be long after i wrote that a member on T-Mobile would come along and ask me why i think they suck....

Well....

When i was on my IT course in Andover for just over a year. I had a T-Mobile Sharp TM100 for Xmas 2004. In Southampton, brilliant signal at home but when i went up to Andover, hardly no bars at all. The phone kept going into "Searching" and "Emerg. Use Only" modes and i had to go outside in the freezing cold and rain to get a signal and sometimes i had to wait 5 mins or more outside to get one. So a few months later i sold it. During my stay there, i also tried Virgin Mobile (with an unlocked Nokia 7250i). Same situation, brilliant signal at home, crap in Andover (network name and bars kept disappearing) and to add to my hate of Virgin Mobile, one day i pin locked my sim so i called them on the landline at home and asked for the PUK, they wouldn't give me it (this was after being on the line for 15 mins with music being beamed down my ear hole) by that time i was pretty pissed off so i destroyed the sim and to this day, i've never touched Virgin Mobile again and i stick to that. So the nightmare continues when i bought a SE K700i on T-Mobile while staying in Andover (bought that at a reduced price of £89.99 in Tesco). That was the phone i wanted at the time and that was the cheapest price i could get it for so it had to be T-Mobile. I liked the phone but again, same signal problems as before. Only this time more problems added on (couldn't lift the content lock bar, went to see T-Mobile shop in Andover itself and they kept fobbing me off telling me i'll have to go to Tesco to get the phone registered, GPRS never working properly, their stupid ringtones and pics taking up my K700i's memory which couldn't be deleted and My T-Mobile never worked properly). About a month later, i took the K700i and got it unlocked for £10 down at the market in Andover. Still had the T-Mobile animated pics/ringtones (which still couldn't be deleted) so i put it on O2 (and stayed on that up until this day). On the 9th Dec. however, i decided that the fact that i couldn't get rid of the T-Mobile stuff on the K700i so on that same day i went and bought a Samsung E350 on O2 for £129.99 at Phones4U and was happy with it (still am happy with it to this day). And that is why i hate T-Mobile, not just because of the problems i've had with them but because of Virgin Mobile as well (since they use T-Mobile's network space). And just like i stand with my decision not to touch Virgin Mobile, the same decision applies to T-Mobile as well and i only know two people on it out of my entire phone book... :)

That took me ages to type, so please... Don't ask me again :)

Morale of the story: Never ask me why i dislike T-Mobile & Virgin Mobile :D

My main problem with Virgin Mobile was mentioned in my post above...

After 15 mins on hold i got through and asked for a PUK code because i locked the sim by accident. They wouldn't give me it. So once i had got off the phone, i left the network, never to return :)

Dude I don't like to point out the obvious here, but your kinda blaming T Mobile for your own failings a little are you not? you were on T Mobile and didn't get a signal in Andover, so your solution was to move to Virgin Mobile which is just a virtual network using T Mobiles equipment, to solve this problem you then went and got another phone on T Mobile, knowing full well the area you were going to use it in had signal problems, it seems somewhat bizarre to then berate the network about it, being as you did know full well the limitations before you bought the phones.

yeah, you have a point... but My T-Mobile never working properly and Virgin not giving me the PUK code wasn't my doing... :)

Yeah it has to be said my T Mobile 6630 which is unlocked and on Vodafone exhibits some weird quirks due to T Mobiles additions to the software, and the PUK code thing I guess wasn't your fault, although registering the Sim properly may have solved this, I guess the moral of the story is don't buy a phone on a network you have previously had problems with. ;)
