Hi guys  My first visit here, but hoping you can help (no one else can )

Please take a look at the 2 screenshots.

Shot 1 is from my Nokia 6600, running Vodafone Live:

Shot 2 is Vodafone Live on the 6670.

Big difference? You bet, but WHY?

Any ideas anyone?

I have the exact same problem with my 6630, was your 6670 originally on another network or branded with another networks logo? Some sim free phones also seem to suffer this problem the N90 being one, unfortunately I haven't found a solution to this issue but a firmware upgrade could possibly help. :)

Thanks for replying. The 6670 was an upgrade via Vodafone so I just renewed my contract and used the sim from the 6600.
As an afterthought the 6600 came with Opera installed as the browser, the 6670 has got some obscure job called Netfront, could that make a difference? I`ve installed Opera mini on the 6670 now, `cos it`s a far superior browser. There`s a Nokia Service Centre near me so I`ll let them have a look, it`s still under warranty so shouldn`t cost anything. ;)

Did the handset come directly from Vodafone? It looks very much like the 6670 (or at least the browser you're using on it) is not being recognised by Vodafone and so they are serving you the generic content.

I've certainly not seen the 6670 available on general Vodafone retail - they only sold the 3G 6680 and have since moved completely to the superior N70.

There`s no Vodafone logo anywhere on it so I think it was a sim free handset. Just recently discovered that Vodafone Live tells me that "Their is no content available for your handset" when I go to certain download links eg Ringtones, logos etc.

Might take it back and see if I can push it to a 6680. When I upgraded I said I wanted something with the same functionality as the 6600:confused: So not sure where this is gonna lead to.

Where did you buy it from, just out of interest? I'd definitely consider returning it if you're still able to - why the hell anyone would want a 6670 when it's the same size as a 6680 with less functionality I have no idea. Also, have you considered upgrading directly with Vodafone? That way yes, your phone will be branded to the teeth, but it's going to work with all of Vodafone's services and they're going to be much better at assisting you should things go wrong.

Yup as I suspected your handset is sim free and thus untouched by Vodafone, handsets branded by other networks also have the same problem, although using Opera to access Vodafone Live seems to solve the problem to an extent but not completely. As to getting a 6670 I'd have probably opted for the more elegant 7610 which is much the same handset, its also one of the sturdiest Nokia's I've seen for a while. You might struggle to squeeze a 6680 out of Vodafone as they no longer seem to stock it, chances are they might just give you an N70 instead though. :)

Lol @ 7610. Yes, it's a very nice handset. It's also older than the bible.

Taking into account here he chose a 6670 I think the 7610 would have been the better option, also there's surprisingly very little difference between the 7610 and the 6680 besides a better camera and 3G support, and the infuriating fact that early firmware versions on the 7610 didn't support full screen video playback, even though Nokia had corrected this on later 6600 firmware versions before the 7610's release, not to mention that in a head on impact the 7610 would absolutely demolish the rather creaky 6680. :p

Mhm, the 6670/80 also has a superior screen and the added camera flash, as well as hot-swappable DV RS-MMC and a newer version of Symbian.

Big debate going on here :duel:

Spoke to Voda directly today. They said it`s because the handset is sim free. But as it`s connected to the PC via cable it`s not too much hassle to download content straight from the web and install it that way. I like the cable connection (better than bluetooth `cos it doesn`t fall on it`s back so much) and there`s a couple of other features that the 6600 doesn`t have.

The handset cost me £10 from Digital Phone Company. I went back to see the guy in the shop today and as a goodwill gesture he gave me a 128mb memory card.

Thanks for the help guys :thumb:

I only pointed out the important things, the screen not being one of them being as I've compared them at great lengths and there is little to no difference, the most noteable one being the impact on performance, the camera flash is also poor and leaves your subjects looking like they are suffering liver failure, hot swappable memory cards are a good thing DV RS-MMC's however are not, and in the world of Symbian the difference between versions tends not to be very substantial, infact its often very little. ;)

I find the screen and camera far superior on the 6670 to what I was used to on the 6600. Strangely enough I did have a 7650 at one time. Looking back, that was one hell of a brick, don`t know how I carried that one around for so long without gettin a hernia:lmfao:
