If they get the software right this could be a stunner. So far, too little is known, but I'm hopeful!

Nokia just dropped their complete fanboy specsheet of a S60 phone in the Nokia N95 today, including a 5 megapixel camera, integrated GPS, 802.11g WiFi, HSDPA, microSD, 150MB of internal memory and pretty much any other spec you could ever care to have stuffed into your phone by a Finnish "multimedia computer" manufacturer. The 2.6-inch QVGA screen should provide plenty of room to partake in all this specification glory, and there's a full-on 3.5mm audio jack to enjoy your multimedia in a convenient manner. Of course, that 550 euro pricetag wasn't no joke neither, but luckily we have until Q1 '07 -- that's when they're busting this thing out in Europe.

Cool, I'm sure I posted about this a while back but at the time it was rumoured to be the N83, glad to hear they've finally confirmed it though and the specs are sweet, can't see anyone topping it anytime soon...least not till Nokia's next effort. :D

They got the software absolutely perfect, had the N95 for a few days now and its frankly fantastic, if it had a leg I'd be humping it right now. Previous S60 Nokia's haven't been without there fair share of obvious flaws, but if you can find the flaws in the N95 I'm all ears, everything about it is just lush from the slick menu navigation and design, to the outstanding auto focus camera which is capable of some pretty breath taking results. The OS has had a bit of an overhaul since its last outing and its looking sparkly and has a renewed spring in its step. I could talk about it all day but I'm off to play with it some more, go forth and buy one its the right thing to do lol. :D

Oo - is it fast? I love the N73, but it still lags - opening SMS, opening the camera, stuff like that. It's fine normally, but when I'm in a rush it makes me just want to smash the damn thing to pieces.

Its faster than a speeding bullet covered in snake oil, I harboured secret desires to crush my N80 due to lag, but N95 is a breath of fresh air and a pleasure to use, not everything happens instantly but it never feels like its struggling. :)

I've included some benchmark scores as a rough measure of the speed difference, although they don't quite demonstrate every day use they give some insight, and also show why the new N Gage app due out later this year has some serious potential, if you didn't already know a new N Gage is imminent, but this time a range of handsets ie N95, N93 will also be able to play the games via an N Gage app that Nokia are releasing. :)

My SPMark 3D Score: 860

Wow - now I just need a way to play World of Warcraft on it ;)

Thanks for the benchmarks. I knew my N73 was obviously faster than my N80... but those N95 stats are insane!

Lmao :D

To be honest if Nokia managed to somehow get WoW onto its phones in some form or other, be it using the phone to check your skills or even playing part or all of the game, then they'd be onto a winner. :)

N80 was crippled by its screen, gorgeous to look at but the performance hit was more than noticeable, N73 was definitely more spritely due to its lower resolution screen, N95 also opts for a lower resolution than N80 but the performance gains are more than worth the sacrifice.

Did I mention how good the TV output is on N95? If not then its really good, it allows you to view your pictures and videos or even games, basically anything the phone displays can be viewed through the TV out and in glorious full screen, those swanky hi res videos from the N95's video camera look pretty nice running at 30fps on a TV. :D

Just got my N95 today :)
wow! what a great little phone (or should i say multimedia device :D )
Ive been playing with it for hours now and still not even 'scraped the surface' of its capbilities and features :)
Just out of curiousity - is there a comaptible fexplorer for the N95 yet?
and also Mullet are you using a network (firmware) branded one?

Well played on getting an N95 TD :D

Mine is on T Mobile but seems to be unbranded thankfully. :)

I'd avoid Fexplorer just now as you have to get a Symbian developer certificate and sign the app before you can install it on a 3rd edition handset, I had it installed on my N80 but I only ever used it for restarting my phone.

The new daddy of Symbian file exploration is X-plore from Lonely Cat Games, allows you to send protected files via bluetooth, something Fexplorer and other file explorers are unable to do, I'll PM you a link so that you can obtain a copy. ;)

Can you PM me one please :)

Signing it was fun!

Oh and I think the FExplorer guy seems to have just made the same thing but on a different OS rather than make a new version with new features.

Signing apps isn't too bad if you only do it once, but when you have to do it for dozens of apps it becomes a little bit tedious.

Dominic Hugo the guy that made Fexplorer was in a car accident a while back, since then he's not had as much time to work on it so its basically a straight port. :)
